GRADSchool Grants

Purpose

Limited awards to contribute the full course-fees of a Vitae National GRADschool (personal development residential course). Funds are limited so early application is advised.

Vitae is running two national GRADschools in 2012.

  • 29 October – 2 November 2012, Windermere
  • 19–24 November 2012, Windermere

Rules

  • All applicants must be paid up members of the SGM of at least 3 calendar months standing before the date of their application for a grant.

  • Students funded by AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC, STFC or the Wellcome Trust are eligible for a free place on a GRADschool course and should not apply to this scheme.

  • All applicants must be resident and registered for a PhD in the UK.
    Students must be in the penultimate or final year of their PhD studentship.

  • Applications will not be considered if a GRADschool grant was awarded previously to the applicant.

  • Grants will cover the full course fees (for 2012; £580 + VAT). Applicants are expected to fund their own travel costs.

  • The grant application should be made before registering on a GRADschool course.

  • Retrospective applications will not be considered.

  • Confirmation of attendance on the course will be supplied by Vitae. Students who did not take up their place will be required to repay their grant in full.

  • Applications must be made on the appropriate form. ONE copy of the completed application form and all supplementary documentation must be submitted for consideration
