
The Watanabe Book Fund
Purpose
Members who are permanently resident in a country with an economy defined by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income may apply for
funding to acquire for their libraries books, or possibly journals, relating
to microbiology.
These annual awards are available as a result of a generous
donation from Professor T. Watanabe of Japan.

There is no application form.
Written submissions and supporting documentation should be sent by post to Grants Office, SGM, Marlborough House, Basingstoke Road, Spencers Wood, Reading RG7 1AG, email to grants@sgm.ac.uk or Fax to 0118 988 5656.
These should include the following information:

A list of the publications required together with an estimate of their cost
(the total cost for any one application should not exceed £350
sterling).

A letter from the Head Librarian of the organisation certifying the need
for the books and the address to which the books should be sent, a statement
on where the books will be kept and an outline of the loan arrangements for
members of the organisation.

A description of the member's organisation and its involvement in microbiology,
the number of staff and students and details of the nature of any courses
microbiology provided by the organisation, i.e. BSc Microbiology, technical
training etc.

A curriculum vitae of the principal applicant.
None of these items (1-4) inclusive should exceed one side of A4 paper each.
