The Society for General Microbiology (SGM) sees significant potential in the use of biotechnology research to mitigate food insecurity and the use of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) as just one of the many tools in the researcher’s toolbox that, with rigorous legislative and ethical review, may yield products or processes to improve food security. SGM will continue to inform the debate about the use of such technology.
Antibiotic Action
British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
Launched November 2011
The Society for General Microbiology strongly supports this global initiative which focuses attention on the need to develop new antimicrobial therapies in the face of increasing antimicrobial resistance. Microbiology research has a key role to play in this global challenge.
The Antibiotic Action campaign has created a petition to back the campaign and draw attention to its aims.
The more signatures on the petition, the more powerful it will become. In addition to SGM's institutional support, we therefore urge all those in sympathy with the campaign's aims to sign the petition personally.
Antibiotic Action also want to hear from 'Champions' who can network with colleagues, family and friends to promote the initiative and secure signatures.
Please surf to Antibiotic Action's website to sign up online for the petition and find out more about becoming a Champion.
The Ask for Evidence campaign aims to get more members of the public asking advertisers, companies, government bodies and other organizations to set out the evidence they have for their claims.
